I need to find the size of underwear people wear, so I can decide on the best sizes for prize for the next contest.

So...what's your waist size?

I'm right on a 31 waist, ...which as guys who are the same will know, often poses a bit of a problem when buying underwear. As they don't actually make "31", do you go for the tight 30, or the looser 32?
And when you are as particular about the fit of your underwear as I am, (and a lot of you guys seem to be too), this is always a dilemma.
Adding to the problem is the various styles interpretation of sizes. I find European brands to be way small, ....with brands like HOM being extremely small fittings. When you are paying as much for underwear as some of these designer brands charge, and you really are not going to "wear" the stuff, (apart from play), then it's really frustrating to open the package and find you should have gone for a different size. I have a few pairs of expensive mistakes in my underwear drawer, and I'll bet that others here have the same.
I know for health reasons that underwear cannot be tried on, and I'm glad about that, but some uniformity in sizing would be nice. Sometimes the assistants can offer advice but often they have never tried the style and are at as big a loss as the customer.

I have a 29 inch waist. But I have to fully agree with Bondsman - for both underwear and swim suits. I hesitate ordering these online because they are, mostly, non-returnable and are not cheap. Then, in the US anyway, there is so little choice for men, especially in the swimwear area. Everything is long board short. Big, baggy and from surfer days of the mid-1980's. Hasn't progressed from that here.
Even the Speedo shop in my city does not carry a size small at all (obviously a factor of the US weight problem) and if I have them order me something, it is non-returnable.

I agree...it is difficult to find size smalls anywhere in the US. I have to sift through a lot to get to them, if any at all. That's why I do most of my shopping online and hope they'll fit properly.

Anyway, I wear a 29/30 (small).

About 20 years ago, I wore a 28/29 and had an extremely hard time finding my size in clothes in the US. Though, I found that I could wear boys size 18 in shorts. Tried buying size 18 boys underwear and sang soprano when I tried them on (not that I am that well endowed!) I did find that most men's small bikini underwear during that time fit well. But, my fav tightie whities in men's small was cut so full that I had to wear them up to my belly button and the ass was a bit too full.

Now I wear a 32 or 33. Depends on the cut, etc. So, I usually wear men's medium. And, I have a harder time finding my size only because it is the more popular.

I wear a size 32 briefs, here. For boxers, I usually buy a large as this size fits better. I have a large collection of each. I will wear briefs or boxers, depending on what pants or shorts I choose to wear for the day. As a general rule, I will wear briefs for dress pants (although sometimes I will wear boxers) and boxers with my jeans--as yesterday, I wore blue and yellow striped Abercrombie & Fitch boxers that protruded out the top because I wore a short pullover shirt--so that everyone could see my boxers as I did errands. Of course, I love to swim and shower in my briefs or boxers, as now I am sitting here in soaked red, white & blue striped Tommy boxers since I just took a hot shower. Enough statistics for you?

My waist size for jeans is a 34; same for my briefs, but since I like to wear them tight (better to bulge out in), I buy a size smaller, like a 32. See the attached and enjoy!

I take size Small, which is usually 30" - 32", though I find 32" tight in Hom. I wear 30" waist jeans.

The Bondsman

I find 32" tight in Hom.

I find HOM to be a constant offender when it comes to sizing. They are WAY small! Wonder why? Are French guys any smaller than the rest of us?

And considering that they are certainly NOT so cheap, ....underwear lovers need to be aware of this when buying or you could find yourself with some very expensive mistakes that you really can't wear. (Yes, even I've got one or two pairs tucked away at the back of my drawers that are now really only curiosity value,.....underwear being non-returnable naturally.)

I'm sorry to say that AussieBum also comes in this category, ....buy at least one size bigger than you would normally take. Luckily, I was fore-warned and got an excellent fit. They're great, but just way off in sizing.

While on the subject, do any other guys find a tendency for stores now to NOT stock the smaller sizes, even 32s. A lot of stores here now start at 34.
Is this a response to the documented growing obesity of western countries?
It's very annoying to find the actual brand and style of underwear you want but then discovering that they don't stock 30s or even 32s....!

My waist size depends on the time of year.Right now32-33 is about right.During the spring and summer,I lose a few pounds(10-15),and drop to about 30-31.At this time I weigh about 160.Back around Labor Day,I was 148 in the nude.

I find that the elastic on too many briefs feels really tight and annoying.
My real waist is 31 or 32, but it's usually the large, sometimes medium boxers that don't feel like they're nearly cutting me. Anyone else share that experience? When you like 'em tight, how does the waistband feel?

My waist is 71cm, no shit. (28 in)
It's a pain when trying to get jeans that fit tight, but I live with it because the last thing I am going to do is put on fat just to make it easier to get tight jeans!
Fortunately buying underwear & swimwear to fit is not so difficult.

I wear 32 jeans - 32 for briefs and boxers, 32 for most thongs, but Hom strings and thongs have to move up to 34 for comfort - even been to 36 for some strings.

Best fits have been Versace and Moschino thongs.

After falling off a cliff 14 months ago, I went from a 32 to a 35 inch waist. I am now back to 159 lbs and about a 33 inch waist. My goal is to be back to a 32 inch waist-about 155 lbs. I choose to look good when I am in my underwear-g string to boxer briefs and it has taken much exercise in thrapy to get there.

It doesn't resolve the original problem of needing a medium waist with a large to extra large pouch, but what can you do.

I used to like the E2U Briefs -- they were underwear designed for the well-endowed male -- but they don't make them any more. The pouch of the E2U Briefs was very roomy, regardless of the waist size.

I've always been the same waist size since I can remember, 28-29 depending on the cut. I'ts great not having to worry about waist fluz, However when you still fit into pants from 8th grade LOL It sucks. Tho the way things go out of fashion.. Some of these might be hot again soon.

Oh, to be a 28-29 waist size again! That will never happen. My size 36 and sometimes 38 pants and my falling abs only mean that I have eaten well and, perhaps, not exercised much beyond finding the cookie jar which is only a few steps from my office at home. However, I do wear size 32 briefs because I like "things" tight. For boxers, I buy large to accommodate the fallen abs. Not only have I gained weight, but also I can't run anymore. Since I had my knee repaired, I am just glad to walk.

What happened to the 27" option .... JUST KIDDING! I seem to be in the medium size group, a 31-32", waist but sometimes I like Large for a good wank .... it's great to have a little extra fabric to play with ;)

SweatyAussie

Maybe you were JUST KIDDING, but for those of us who don't have a gut the lack of suitable sizes in underwear/swimwear/shorts/jeans departments is a pain in the arse - if I am allowed a mixed metaphor.

To be honest I can wear 30" waist with no problems if we are talking about formal or semiformal wear, but for sport or the beach I want something that fits!

I answered 36 because I just read the question without reading the first post.
I always buy 32-34 though, so they're nice and tight when I wear them.

In my ongoing crusade against the bloating of fashion, I would like to say that while I marked a 28 I can easily wear womens jeans in a 25 or 26... and I'm not skin and bones (check my gallery)! Surely there are other guys out there with the same problem. Shopping is next to impossible. I usually have to fly to New York to find clothes or have them tailored. If anyone out there has any influence in the fashion world, guys can be thin too.

Sorry for the rant.

Not only is it difficult to find smalls in the US, but I'm a size 26! Try and find that anywhere! Due to the stretchy nature of most underwear/swimwear, I can usually wear 28.

My b/f has the same problem we've found unico's work quite well for him. Now if we could find jeans/pants that fit him we've tried everything in the boys dept with no luck :(

WOW, this is my first poll & reply, so here goes.

I voted on sixe 30 (assuming it's 30 inch, which is small mens or size 14 depending on what brand of full cut white (or navy) fly-front briefs I "should" be wearing.

I say "should be size 30", however because of the way my underwear (and in particular fly-front underwear) fetish started as a kid wearing 'borrowed' pairs of grown up mens underwear, I typically have a tendancy to still get and wear my fly-front briefs in a larger size. So I am a size 30, but the majority of my pairs are size 34 or 36. Room to move and room to 'grow'...
