Just want to apologize for being so absent from the boards this past while. While I visit many times a day, I haven't had time to be active.
Many of you know that one of my hobbies is gardening (i know...how gay is that!) - and by that, I don't mean a little garden with a few plants, I have a large property on a ravine lot. This property has almost everything I could every want - full sun front yard for my perennial border with 50 foot spruce trees as a backdrop, natural slopes for rock gardens, a natural bog for wetland plants, and a mature woodland and the ravine. I have a huge collection of Clematis (over 150 varieties), Iris (mostly species) and alpine plants. I'm working on breeding plants. I belong to plant societies - and it basically takes over my spring and summer. The goal is to one day retire and start a small nursery.
So...While I may appear to be losing interest in the site, please understand that I"m not, It's just taking a bit of a back-burner for the next few months.
I'll still be here to manage the boards and deal with any issues, but updates to the two sites will be sparse.
Other than that, please keep posting those great pics and messages. Even gardeners have to jerk off once in a while, and there's no better inspiration than all of you guys!
ps. if any of you are also plantsmen, let me know!

oh yeah,
one other thing that's taking up my time..
Final Fantasy XI online
A word of warning to you all - don't go near the damn thing. It's the most addictive thing I've ever done. It's incredible but it's worse then cocaine or heroin. In fact, if you have a heroin or cocaine addiction, forget rehab, just start playing this game.
regards,

man, FFXI is gonna be the death of me.
if you have time, check out www.vqhq.com . it's a free forum that connects ffxi gaymers across servers.
i go on as Hotpants, LV15 RDM, SYLPH server.
(i wonder if all ffxi have the compulsion to list their characters in every forum)

dingo,
I don't know whether to thank you or curse you. I didn't even know there was an organized bunch of "gaymers" for ffxi!
Seriously though, thanks for the link. I'm not sure what world I'm in, but I"ll check when I get home, maybe we can hook up and party sometime.
How you finding being a RDM? I started off as that, but changed to a MNK as I kept reading that it was hard to get into parties being a RDM at the higher levels. Personally I think so many of the people playing take it much too seriously, it's like choosing your job and subjob is as important as choosing which university you're going to attend when you graduate.
I'll definitely check out www.vqhq.com - It would be kind of nice to be "out" even in a role playing game.

every time you sign into the world, the chat window will say in pink "Welcome to ______! blah di blah blah"
if you're not on sylph, i think someone offered up a world pass on the sylph forum so you can ask for a code there.
i usually play late so people get desperate for a healer and i end up being the backup white mage of the party. i like being a RDM; enfeeble my enemies and then beat 'em to a bloody pulp.
but yea. you're so on about some people racing towards LV50 and being an uberforce to be reckoned with. whatev. i'm there for the sexy elves in harness & subligars :hump
i plan to switch to beastmaster once i get to LV30, anyway. and once i get there, hopefully you'll open up a loincloth section on your forum :D

dingo,
Just checked, and i'm on the slyph server. I am an elf, but I'm afraid i'm not wearing a harness right now. I'm wearing a Kenpogi and it makes me look pretty stupid. I was wearing a Travelers hat for a while, and I looked like the biggest dandy you could imagine. I must try to get better looking clothes!
I'll keep an eye out for "Hotpants" when I'm online
:)

A fellow gardener here in MN. It too is addicting. I started out wanting to know more about vegetable dyes for wool and other fibers. That led to learning about uses of plants by native peoples. That led to wanting to be able to identify those plants. That led to wanting to try to grow them. And that led to gardening!

PaulNM,
That's amazing. So does that mean you're into textiles? You probably know about it, but Sanguniaria Canadensis grows wild up here. It's common name is Blood Root, and as you can probably guess by the name, the natives would use the root for dyes. I'm lucky to have it in my backyard. It's ephimeral like many woodland plants, but it certainly puts on a great show this time of year.

hi there...i didn't know you like gardening...that's a nice hobby and that's so not very gay. even my grandfather loves to do it.
i've been gone from the board for quite a while too. i've been busy with lots of uni stuff in the past two months and now, i'm finally a graduate...i';m so happy i have a degree now.
right now, i'm hunting for a job. i'll be having a couple of interviews and i really hope i could land a good one.
this board is really nice. keep the good work you do here. two thumbs up! :hump :p

John,
I don't personally have the patience, time, nor probably the "talent" to garden, but I certainly can appreciate the outcome of someone's else's addiction to it. Are there pictures anywhere of your garden?
