I was visiting Belgium last week and a friend there told me that more and more pools are refusing guys in shorts.
Reason is that shorts are unhygienic. Some men wear their shorts outside the pool, on the street and than dive into the pool with the same shorts they have been wearing all day.

So had to check it out ofcourse.
And all men were in speedo's and bikini's. Very hot.
Even the lifeguards were all in speedo's.

Great rule or what ?

That is something new for me and I live in Belguim.
In he most pools you can put a short on. The weather her is most of the time not so good that you can wearing a short outdoor :-)

Are you sure it wasn't in France?
On every camping whit a pool in France I had to wear a speedo or a tight short. Ther it is cool to sitting on the border and watching the boys!

So the answer on your question: Good rule or not
Yes a verry good rule!

No, it was Belgium, more specific Antwerp. A friend there told me, it was even on the radio he told me. We went swimming and all the men were in speedo's or bikini's.

What? Can't swim in my white briefs? Darn! That takes out all of the fun! So I guess that I will have to wear my briefs under my Speedos. Or I could wear my striped boxers under my Speedos, with most of it showing out the top and legs. Oh, well, when in Rome. . .

Excellent rule... but the first question that springs to my mind is, why would anyone NOT want to wear Speedos at a swimming pool? Weird.

SweatyAussie, ...it is beyond my comprehension why so many guys here, ...and in America would want to try and swim in the immense, voluminous bedlinen most of 'em choose as swimwear now!

Many years ago, I was in Amsterdam and stayed at the YMCA hostel (closed since then). It was a very basic hostel for men, but it had a nice gym room and a good swimming pool for the local guys. When I went down to the pool, the assistant at the entrance asked me if I have a swimming suit or whether I wanted to lend one from the pool. I showed my surprise, because in my hometown swimming under men was naked at the local YMCA (it has become co-ed since then). I answered that I am used to swimming au naturel. With a large smile he gave me an xxsmall worn-out, see-through triangle piece of material (today these things are called thongs), sent me to the locker room and advised me which shower room to use (showering before swimming is the rule). When I entered this shower I met the young man and others in their full glory; within less than a second the lent thong was no longer on me and I had the best swimming, showering party of my life.
Later that night this guy and I went together to get a tattoo to celebrate the happening. He introduced me to tattoo, but this another story.
Conclusion: being obliged to wear speedo's or other tight swimwear has its pro's.
Jaap.
