Service personnel have been ordered to wear appropriate underwear when attending uniform fittings after complaints from tailors, the Ministry of Defence said yesterday.

That's the complete story. Needless to say, it was in a column of short stories headed "In brief".

Let me guess... the tailors complained that the "fittees" were wearing underpants that were too baggy, too much material getting in the way. They asked that the soldiers wear tight briefs, or preferably a thong or G-string, so there would be no folds of cloth obstructing their job with the measuring tape.
Am I right?

No idea what the problem was. I checked the Daily Telegraph, which is usually hot on military news, but they didn't carry the story. The MoD website doesn't appear to have a press release.

Maybe the guys were going "commando?" Perhaps, there are those of us who would like to be the tailors? Think of all the "hands-on" activities that tailors do to make sure that one's pants fits correctly? If this doesn't give one a hardon, nothing much will.

I think you are spot on superdoc. Many tailors object to having to touch areas around the groin and backside while in pursuit of their employment. Can you imagine that?
When they kneel down to take measurements, it would put some interesting items right in their face if their customer was a dreaded free-baller. Probably NOT a welcome intrusion if you were str8!
Of course, not everyone is as hygenic as we all are here, so I guess they have to deal with some pretty grotty customers.
I would think it only common courtesy to wear something a little more covered than your micro-mini g-string posing pouch or birthday suit in this situation. You aren't allowed to try underwear/swimwear on :moon without briefs for a very good reason.
If it was me personally? I'd MUCH rather the customer had white briefs on than nude, ...but then I'm weird!

Yeah, Bondsman, like me. Are we the only ones who like soaked white underwear? Like now, I have on soaked Banana Republic microfiber stretch white briefs. Perhaps, we would make an excellent pair of men's tailors. But first, I would need to learn how to sew.
