I'm hoping this is the right place to ask questions, but here goes.

This is something I didnt notice prior to becoming a member. Maybe its a funtion thats supposed to be this way, I am not sure. Anyhow..

As a "guest" when looking in the forum.. there is a button at the top that says "Todays Posts" but as a memebr its replaced with "New Posts" Ok.. Before you say I am blond here <no offence to the blond members out there, its just a saying. Anyhow.. On clicking it as a guest, it will bring up all topics touched on in all forums for today. However, when logged on, it doesnt. For example, I was on earlier today and came back this evening, When I clicked "New Posts" while logged on, it showed me only a few, where as, logging out and looking as a guest showed me more. Am I missing something here? A setting or something? I am including two pictures to show the different buttons, they are the 5th item down.

Just curious in Rhode Island.

Don't worry Newbie2it, .....I can't figure out how it works either, ..... and I've been here for ages!
When I click "new Posts", I get the new ones OK, but mixed in with them are about 18 posts that haven't had anything added for years, but they're labelled "yesterday", and continually pop up in the new posts.
VERY frustrating when it tells you it's a new post, but you can clearly see from the last posted addition that it's not only a very old post, but you've seen it about a dozen times before.
Have asked our gallant and very over-worked leader but I guess it's just a glitch that you learn to live with.
Then once you add about three posts yourself, "new posts" will only bring up those alone, and you've got to go back through the reverse arrow to get to the original list again.

OMG Thank You LOL I thought I was going nuts here, but literal nuts would be nicer ;). You added one thing I wasnt mentioning prior, about adding several posts and then nothing showing but your recents LOL.

Glad I am not alone in the Underwears Lost worlds of message boards <g> ;)

Bondsman's right it is a glitch in the software. There is an major upgrade available for the software, but I'm reluctant. The last time I upgraded the user gallereis it failed and I lost the whole database.

What works for me is when i come to the site, I never bother with the new posts. I simply look down the icons on the front page and if they have the red icon, there's new posts in that forum. Threads with new posts will be at the top.

This of course only works if you have cookies turned on and I can only vouch for this working on a PC, as that's what I use.

Hi John,

I use a PC too, And now that I see how you are seeing new posts, it also is working for me. I would backup the server prior to implementing any new updates. Obviously you've been told this prior. Thanks for the info to finding new posts. I never understood why some were colored and others weren't, but thats because I was reading thru all boards at the time like a good lurker ;)
