TYR is an affordable and popular brand chosen by young team swimmers in HK. Probably not because of its style but its price and usually the club/coach make a mass order. Just to show you cheap pants are not bad either.

I have worn the tyr brand for years and never thought of it as a cheap brand. For me, comfort and the overall look are more important than the cost anyway. As for durability, I never had a problem with that either. So, enjoy them, take care of them, and have a good time wearing them. Hope your team has a good season!

In HK, the positioning of TYR is a bit low... they are definitely not popular as Speedo and Arena which are regarded as the only professional swimming brands in HK. So TYR tends to sponsor swimming clubs and attach their image to growing swimming teams.
