Hi!
Good, now you gave me the chance to confess: My avatar is not me... :o

And this gives me the opportunity to tell about a small problem of mine, and ask you guys about it!
I haven't yet gotten myself a digital camera, but hope to do so soon. Therefore I haven't yet any pic of myself that I can/will use for an avatar or profile pic. I remembered some pics my last girlfriend took of me, but I didn't find them, I think she has them, or hopefully, she has throwed them away. I didn't have any underwear on the pics, either (Or anything else for that matter.).
But when I have got myself a camera, how can I take pics of myself? You who don't have anyone to take pics for you, do you use a camera stand, and a delay on the camera?
Anyways, I hope to have some pics to upload in not too long. ;)

My current avatar and the previous one have always been me, the whole me, and nothing but me; (for better or worse!). As this site is primarily devoted to "self-pics", I do think it a bit unethical to use an avatar of someone else, ...particularly some stunning looking model.
Besides, I DO want to see the actual person posting, and as your avatar is supposed to stand for you, why use someone else? :confused:
If you are not comfortable using a self-pic, however cropped, then you can always use a small graphic or cartoon, ....but what the hell? We are amongst friends here, and all shapes are represented :cool: , so make with the camera and get your own pic up!
This is a site for REAL people, and REAL underwear fans, and while we may all harbour an element of fantasy in our shared fetish, this is where WE act it out!

Answering the guy who asked about how to take self-pics, get a camera with a timer. I think most digitals have them.
A tripod is a help in getting the angle right.
Placing yourself in the frame is trial and error - but the nice thing about digital is you just keep taking pics until you get it right, no film is wasted.

Just a hint gardardottir, ....try cropping a small section from one of your pics. Close cropping can focus intensely on the style of garment you prefer or body part you wish to emphasise, and tell us exactly where your fetish lies.
Sad to say, we have had a couple of posters here on this very site who posed as someone other than who they actually were, complete with stolen pics from other sites I was familiar with.
One actually became very popular here on the board, with guys posting very complimentary things and completely falling for the scam , which I thought not only dishonest, but certainly against the very spirit of the board. I have no idea just what thrills the perpetrators got from this usurping of someone else's identity, but it was definitely a low act in my opinion, ...and not particularly cleverly executed either.
What you see in my shots is all me, like it or not, and speaking for myself, I want to see YOU fellow members in your shots too, ....not some professional underwear model, or some poor unsuspecting guy from another site.

Just for the record -yes my avatar is me, although I think it's a bit of false advertising, as the shot makes my basket look big, where it's really just average. Just had a semi in it.

Some of my favorite photos ever are the shots of Bondsman with the yellow and the paintbrush. They do have a commercial feel to them, but I knew it was him.

As for the impostors, there's still some around. There's a few in the user galleries. Unless it's really blatant I usually leave it alone and just get a chuckle out of it - especially looking through the persons gallery and watching how their genitalia or distribution of body hair changes. Who am I to say it's not the same person - my dog looses his hair and gains a thicker coat in various seasons, why not a human? ;)

Unusual? Hmmmm, ....certainly the "look" I was attempting, .......but not too sure just what you are meaning by the "60's or earlier" thing. :confused: Is that a reference to my age, the decrepit state of my legs or the perceived antiquity of the style of my briefs? :eek:
Seriously, SweatyAussie, I DO like to add a bit of a story/scenario sometimes to my pics, rather than just stand there, front on in the pair of briefs. I notice a few others here starting to do the same, and getting a bit more creative. I think it just adds to the fantasy element, as I have done in my gallery with the dark, chocolatey "men's club" feel in my "home from work" shots. I tried to give the mood of some guy just home from work who has thrown off his outer clothing and settled down to relax with a drink in his underwear.
Some guys do the outdoors thing or use a prop such as a bike or some sporting gear to lend a bit of a scenario or theme to their pics. I do notice that ladders have been getting a bit of a work out recently! I am flattered that you compare my own humble shots to professional advertising. Compliment accepted!

"Aussie Workman" is a look that always gets my hormones a-racing, but now I'm just not TOO sure that your personal choice of thongs, (as underwear, NOT the rubber feet variety), will actually sit real well with the image. Dig around right to the back of that underwear drawer of yours. I'm pretty sure you weren't always a thong boy and you just may have something very suitable back there from your more ....shall we say......."conventional" earlier days that will look just fabulous with a "power tool"! ;) I'd love to see you in that look, not necessarily for a permanent avatar, but certainly as a series of hot-shots!

And a very nice semi too! Nothing says that a guy can't "package", or give things a bit of a "rub-up" before taking that pic, (you certainly wouldn't do it after coming out of freezing water! :eek: ) ...but I certainly draw the line at padding!
I think it's great here that guys with such variance of endowments post and do so without embarrassment or any sense of competition. If only the gi-normous posted their pics, we'd soon get a bit jaded of looking at maybe two guys. Sure it's fun to look at some of the more "gifted" guys, but I come here to share my fetish about "underwear" specifically, ...or I would go to a nude site if it was just the dicks.

I don't currently have an avatar on this site, but on others my avatar is always me. My problem here is that I don't currently have a photo I consider good enough that meets the pixel size restriction.
If you have any image viewing/processing software at all, I would be very surprised if there is not a function to resize the image. If you don't, however, I am sure you could send your image to deusex and he would happily resize it for you.

Of course, Linux being Linux, it can be done under Linux with a single command:

convert -resize 80x80 (input file name) (resized file name)

This resizes the image so the largest dimension is 80 pixels but preserves the width/height ratio.

I agree, I can take or leave the glimpse of underwear beneath shorts. However in my case that applies to any underwear - if I am going to see it it may as well be a thong as anything else in my humble.

I would have posted this in the Real World Underwear Sightings section, except unfortunately there was no underwear involved...

The other night I was at the gym, and a guy was seated at one of those pulldown machines, the one where you reach up and pull a bar down to the back of your neck or to your chest. I have had second thoughts about the business of using an avatar that is not a picture of yourself.
I still believe that posting someone else's photo to your own gallery that is supposed to be pictures of yourself is (a) wrong, (b) stupid, becauses though you might get lots of positive feedback, in reality you know that the compliments are referring to another guy, not you.

I regard the avatar however as basically a symbol, a quick visual cue to the reader that this message he is reading was posted by SweatyAussie. It could be a self-pic; it could be a pic of someone else but exhibiting your particular fetish; it could be say a pic of a pair of jocks (not on a person); it could even be an inanimate object such as a dumbell for a fitness fanatic, a whip for someone into S&M, etc. etc. Didn't Bondsman formerly use an avatar that was a picture taken from an advertisement?

The only stipulation should be that if it's a picture of a person other than yourself, you don' claim that it IS yourself.

Yes, this is me, but I'm used to seeing more symbolic versions, as some of my buddies use on Yahoo IM. I didn't assume that the avatar I'm looking at is really the person. That's not true for the gallery. I assume bigboi is really bigboi, but what's the difference anyway, this is all fairly anonymous. You might as well use pictures of yourself. BTW; I made up bigboi. I don't know if some one has used that name or not.

Well, anonymity or not, it IS a fact and a stated requirement of this board that posted pics in galleries actually be OF the person doing the posting.
It seems we here are not immune from identity theft.
I have mentioned elsewhere that there are a few galleries here containing spurious pics purporting to be of the poster when in actual fact, they are porn shots or pics stolen from other sites and re-posted here as self-pics. Now what vicarious thrill this gives the faker doing this I'll leave you to fathom, BUT I for one hate being played for a fool.
I have even found one of my very own pics posted as a "self-shot" by someone else on another site! Was I flattered? Pissed off more like it! :mad:
In most cases the faker is not even clever.
The resemblance between the different people pictured in the personal gallery is only superficial at best; I.e. same hair colour, but close examination of hair patterns, navel and genital shape clearly exposes the ruse.
Judging by the comments in the galleries, we have very trusting members here who have be genuinely lavish in their praise for some pretty dodgy pictures.

I have NO problem whatsoever if someone chooses to use a graphic/cartoon pic as their avatar as per sharako above, .....perfectly fine :cool: , but I do find it a bit suss on other sites when people have fairly well known "borrowed" pics as THEIR avatar.
It's supposed to stand for "YOU", ......not Mr. Calvin Klein Model, ...or whoever.

YES! My avatar, like all my pics is ALL ME!!! I'm not particularily what you would call "hung" or "well-endowed" but it works just fine for me and my friends! Hi, all my pics are mine, taken by me and they are all of me, i like those who do their own pics and make the effort to share them, sadly you will always get those who will steal your material for themselves, i guess its just something you have to expect if you post images onto any site, its a shame but there you go, i never save other peoples images to my desktop, to me its stealing, i just enjoy looking at them instead, :) Abagazza.

Have no problem with people saving my image to their computer collection, ...I save other's pic's all the time to look at later!
However I do object to having someone steal my image and post them on ANOTHER underwear site.
I have had occasion recently to try to stop another guy using MY pics, over on THAT third-rate other site! :mad: :mad: :mad:

Well I've certainly been through a few "stages" in my time, and quite a few performances too, .... including the odd "matinee", but I've never "stalled" in my act, "the show must go on" of course!
I could usher in another avatar, but I think I'll finish the season with this show-stopper, .....unless you want me to bring down the curtain on a class act?
