Great topic. I also remember those ads and of course was turned on by them. Between those ads and the Sears and Eaton's catalogs with their underwear sections, that was the start of this obsession of mine.
Your thread got me thinking that there has to be copies of those ads on the net, so I started searching. I didn't find those ads, but I did find an amazing site that I've added to the un-der-wear.com links section - http://www.vintageskivvies.com
It's the complete history of men's underwear with vintage ads (ads before 1969 - so they are mostly illustrations instead of photography.) But it really is an amazing site. They even sell vintage underwear - some of it still in it's celophane packaging.

I too was always looking at the Sears and Eatons catalogues when I was younger and still do, but there are not as many pictures anymore. A site I did find for pictures from catalogues was www.premium-ads.com
I found many of the pics that I secretly loved to look at in my teen days.

As an older observer, I remember when the first Jockey 3- dimensional form appeared in dept store windows. The form which is still used, cut off above the navel and high on the thigh at the bottom. Prior to this all depictions of uw indicated that men were smooth below the waist. Jockey daringly added a bump and created the first pouch. The "Y fronts" really looked great; never looked that symetrical on me.

Do I remember the catalogues? As a developing adolescent in a rural area, I have to say I looked forward with eager anticipation to them!
They were absolutely formative to my early development. I spent many happy, ...if sweaty, hours avidly taking in those pics and imagining those guys in their sexy white fly-fronted briefs as my playmates.
Didn't you just hate it when the catalogue only showed pictures of the underwear in the packs and not on models?
It was mind-blowing when I first saw shots of guys who didn't have the airbrushed bulge and there were hints of masculine shapes in the front of those Y-fronts, ....well at least there were to the fertile mind of a very keen young white briefs fan. I can tell you there were some sticky pages in all our catalogues and I would be hurrying to try out the style that the guy was wearing in the pic too.
I'd like to hear from other guys who got their start this way.

I "came" of age in the mid-to-late 70's
International Male/Undergear catalogs were my porn of choice back then.
Also, I recall the King-Size catalog offered a swimmer's jock (slender waistband) which was photographed on a real model, very obvious cock outline in the pouch, and a nice thick bush popping out of the top of the strap...I can't believe they printed the pic with no airbrushing, but they did...and I shot quite a few teenage loads while looking at that one.
Of course, the Sears, Penney's and Ward's catalogues always ended up in my room for some reason.
I wish someone would scan and post some of the International Male/Undergear pics from that era...they were much hotter than today's pics.

We've sure come a long way since all those ads. The first time I saw Travis in his CK briefs a few years back I came almost immeadiately in my own briefs.
