I have had a fascination with loincloths all my life. It is a fact known only to my partner and a few friends on the web. As a boy of about twelve or thirteen I would raid old boxes of sheets to make makeshift loincloths. I still make them , though out of linen, cotton or chamois leather ( my favourite). I tend to think white looks best on me but have tried green, blue, pink and brown.
These are some shots from 2003 . They are stills from a digital videocam, not high.res.

Two more from 2002. I look as if I haven't eaten for days - not me!

Love the photos. Maybe a demonstration on how to make a loincloth would encourage more people to wear them. ;)

yup - used to get off on the Tarzan TV series and tried making a loincloth like that, but without much success! Would like to see how to go about it.

If you go to this thread (http://www.usg-online.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5226) you will find a piece about loincloths.
If anyone wants a private demonstration they can leave a message on yahoo. My ID is loinclothtim.
So out of interest what type of underwear would you be wearing, when not in a loincloth.
I see you are in the UK, doesn't the weather go against loincloths ;)

I wear all kinds: briefs, jockeys, thongs and boxers. Best of all are tight jockeys or mini-shorts. I am planning to post some photos of these in the near future.

well, I have made a start! I used an old pillow case which gave a strip about 8 feet by 9 inches. Not quite long enough, but the result is here. Not sure it's tied quite right, but still. Sorry it's abit dark!

Yes, that looks about right. You have opted for the tucked in look which produces a nice bulge. Did you feel good in it, particlarly at the rear? I have rather large buttocks so it is nice to let them feel the air.
This is my version.
Loinclothtim, I get the feeling you like this site, isn't it fun :)

I was aiming for the one which you said was the usual Eurpoean before drawers came in, but I couldn't quite get my head round your instructions, though I think I was aiming for the one you show here. Later I redid it as a rokushaku fundoshi (aided by how-to phtos on the net). Both ways felt really comfortable - front and rear! ;)

These stills from a video show me in a very rough home-made loincloth of the 'Tarzan' variety, though the string is almost invisible.
I look a bit nervous , which is maybe understandable.
Yes Tom , I do!

Ok Try this one hunky_loincloth_guy
Tim, could I be forgiven for thinking that it looks as though you are about to put your "lunch" on that empty plate sat there on the table ;)
Now in the interests of historical loincloths I am attaching a pic which I came across (no pun intended!) on the usenet. I would not normally post a pic that was not of me, but this is so old I thought it may be of interest to those of a loincloth disposition.... there are few more and I would be happy to email them on to anybody if they want them before I delete them, I'll give you a week from now to put in a request as I don't think it's really fair to post pics other than of my self :)

Hi, I thought your loin cloth photos are good. They are interesting. I have been wondering how you tie a loin cloth, what you do to wear one. I am interested in Hawai'i and sometimes see old photos of Hawaiian men wearing the traditional Malo (a loincloth) and wonder how you tie one. My attempts have been lame. So if you can describe how you tie and put one on I'd be interested, and appreciate it. Hume ka malo = "put on a malo".
