i used to wear a jock when i played when i was a referee i wore a sports jock ,just to hold things snug in place

There used to be a time when British football player's shorts used to be tight and short so an athletic support was all that was necessary. Nowadays with these big baggy things they wear, is seems to be customary to wear the obligatory lycra shorts underneath. Seems to be the same trend in tennis as well. Hopefully the tight shorts fashion will return; until then be thankful for Aussie Rules football! ;)

From what I've seen of soccer, .....and I fully admit that's somewhat limited, ....(if I want to see over-dramatic divas rolling around in badly acted agony I go to the opera), .....but there was apparently a period where at the end of a game the crowd would actually invade the ground and strip the clothes off the players for souvenirs!
Bizarre I know, ........and sometimes even the players would dak themselves to show off.
In all the pics I've seen of this phenomena they seem to be wearing white bikini style fly-less briefs. I did have a few pics I collected somewhere, ...I'll try to find them but they all have little white bikinis.
If you want to see short shorts, ...and plenty of glimpses of underwear, you certainly can't go past AFL.

I note that some of the AFL players are starting to wear that strange look of Lycra long "shorts" under the normal short footy shorts. I don't know if this is for warmth or what, but it certainly has the effect of dampening down the sex factor - no glimpse of arse as they do the high kick.
Fortunately this has not yet becomestandard, and there are still plenty of players who wear their footy shorts short, tight and revealing. When you see a rear shot of tight-arsed black shorts that have got wet from the grass or from rain... who needs porn? Porn? What's that?

Yes SweatyAussie, those long monkey's-bum pink things that stick out from under the shorty shorts are the passion-killing equivalent of a glimpse of your maiden aunt's incontinence girdle!
I have been a most vocal critic at their adoption by some players. I believe it's to keep their hamstrings warm, but they sure are bloody ugly!

I worry about Bondsman knowing so much about the "private" lives of these soccer players for whom he professes so much disdain.... :confused:
As for the underpants, you can't see enough of them to judge, but at least they are brief and showing a bit of arse cheek - and you have to admit they are a big improvement over the shorts he is in the process of putting on or taking off.

I have played soccer for years now and i and all my friends who play wear compression shorts becasue they are comfortable, give you support, and lots of freedom.

With reference to the earlier mention of AFL Football, I thought the board might enjoy this vision of a recent example of the ancient art of a good old Grade 2 Aussie "Dakking"!

You'll notice the absolute cool demonstrated by the player, who, despite having his shorts ripped totally off, continues to play on.
Thankfully, his speedo string held!

To the afficionado, there are of course, grades of Dakkings:

Grade 1: Pants, undies everything gone, ripped completely off! Rare these days, but certainly spectacular when it does occur! Crowds at AFL are anything from 40,000 to 95,000! You can imagine the reaction!

Grade 2: (As featured in this clip) Pants only completely gone, leaving the undies, speedos etc. Particularly good when the recipient is wearing a jockstrap! Here the player has little option. There's nothing left to pull up, he's not totally exposed, and yet he must wait until help arrives. There really is a bloke sitting on the sidelines with a spare pair of shorts whose job is to run out to any dakked player. You'll see him in the vid.

Grade 3: Pants and undies totally down, but not off. Hard to know just where to look. You know the sighting will be brief, and you want to see all the goodies, but the expression on player's face is worth looking at too! There have been many sets of balls hurt in the incredibly hurried vigorous jerking up of the shorts and undies! :eek:

Grade 4: Pants only down but not off. Good, but player usually recovers very quickly, pulls up the pants and sighting is all too brief. (Pun intended!) The excitement of this grade depends largely on the type of underwear the player is wearing, and how he fills it out. Some guys have been known not to care at all, and leave their pants down for some time, unless it makes it hard for them to run!
Ahhh, Aussie Dakking! It's a great spectator sport, I'm sure you'll agree.

i've noticed a few players now wearing what can only be described as 'stripey pants'under their shorts, and of course when they have a scrum their shorts ride down and the undies are on show

Nice briefs - and nice bulge - but said "boxer briefs" are about the same size and tightness as standard AFL footy shorts. All they need to do is toss the soccer "shorts" and play like that, and soccer might get a few more converts in this country.
