why no chat room or netmeeting server?

I was just wondering why this great site does not have a chatroom or (even better) a netmeeting possiblity......

I had previously asked everyone here if they'd use a chat engine, and was told it wasn't necessary. I do know that it takes an awful lot of regular users to make chat any good. There's nothing worse than going into chat and finding no one else there.

As it is right now, USG boards are getting busier all the time, but at most times, there's still on average one to four registered users and maybe 5 or 6 guests on the site at one time (maybe a few more a peek times) If there was chat, how many of those users would be in the chat at that time? I personally don't think the site is ready for it - but I could be persuaded if enough people asked for it.

As for anything else like netmeeting, or something similar, I'll keep my eyes out, but there are two issues at play - time and cost. This site is a hobby for me and as much as I love working on improving it, I do have a life (professional and personal) outside of USG - and cost - well I think that's obvious - this forum software cost over 300 bucks, the photosets all cost money, the bandwidth we all use costs money, etc..etc... I'm not complaining, as I think it's all been worth every penny - as I now have an outlet for my fetish and i'm meeting a lot of other great guys with similar interests, but there is a limit to how much I can put into the site.

There's also one other issue - I'm still learning about all this technical stuff. Before I started this site I was strictly an html web designer. I've since learned (or at least still learning) PHP, MYSQL, and now i'm onto Javascript and Dynamic HTML - but the reality of it all is that i'm still at that stage where it's two steps forward and one step back - so it's hard to get technical stuff working all the time.

Ok...sorry about the long post, but at least you can get an idea of where I'm coming from.

now...forget all the above and continue posting all those incredible pics - I've had the most incredible jerk off sessions because of all you guys here. Thanks!

Thanks for your answer. I understand your concerns and the cost involved. Too bad there is not yet such a chat space elsewhere...
About netmeeting: I get the idea that ils.rekroom.com is out of the air.... It was usch a great site for meeting other guys... Do you know of another free gay netmeeting server??

If you want to try setting up a chat facility why don't you start a Yahoo group and use their chat? - It would mean that everyone would have to register with Yahoo (but then aren't most of us already registered with them?).

I'm not a great fan of chat - I don't think that I'd become one of the "regular users".

for those of you who know how to use IRC (internet relay chat), there's a room in the undernet network called #gayunderwear. i've chatted in there a few times and have traded pics with guys too.
