just love to show off while running...
N2N mesh shorts (no lining, of course) and Dore lycra mesh push up thong

Thong under shorts is my normal running attire. I don't normally wear so-called running shorts for running though, the liner in most running shorts is useless as it provides next to no support.

I truly believe the purpose of those inner built-in undies of some running shorts has nothing at all to do with providing "support", ....(they DON'T!), ....but I think they are put there purely for "modesty" reasons.
The shorter (YUM!) running shorts, particlarly those with a split leg, can provide some very spectacular viewing for the interested observer, ...and probably for the not so interested too, ...hence the fairly ill-designed liner.
I too always cut it out, ....I don't even buy ones with the liner unless it's a particularly well designed pair of shorts I want anyway.
You can't beat a good jockstrap IMHO, .....the glimpse of those straps under the cheeks sets off some very arousing thoughts in my dirty little mind!

Glad too hear I'm not the only one cutting the liners out. Have too agree with Bondsman, jockstraps under your running shorts. They give you the support and freedom of movement that I need.

As usual, I come down on the side of thongs vs jockstraps. In my case, part of the appeal of thongs under running shorts is the fact that if they are decent shorts (I.e. SHORT) you get a tantalising glimps of arse cheek under the shorts, without seeing any underwear, so you are left wondering "Is he wearing anything under the shorts or not?"

Support-wise, I imagine there is little difference between a thong and a jockstrap.

Except the thought of that unhygenic thong strap right up a very sweaty arse-crack :shocked doesn't really do it for me at all.
A jockstrap allows plenty of air to circulate and keeps things so much dryer.
And the very thought that any guy in question may NOT be wearing any underwear AT ALL:eek: is an abomination, and should definitely NOT EVER be discussed here on a board solely devoted to the joys of wearing of underwear......

"Freeballing" is an unpardonable sin, ...something that should only to be heard about from dirty backpackers who never wash their gear, and abandon all propriety in their laziness!!!

"Freeballing"? Now that's a term I thought I would never see used here. Sorry SweatyAussie, that you wound up on the other side of the fence on this topic. But once again I have too side with Bondsman. Why not show a glimpse of your underwear, under your side split shorts. Is that not much more erotic? It is too me!

Bondsman and I went around on this subject some time back. Arizona is a lovely 110+ Degrees this time of year, and freeballing was the only way to go... until now. This year I have been wearing a Bike swim supporter. They are quick drying and very cool, and I must say that I love the feeling of the straps around my "arse." That said, I am a convert. Not only is the jock more comfortable, I'm actually getting more attention than I did when going commando! :moon

As often happens, I have been misunderstood.

Read my post carefully again guys, I never said I "freeball", especially not when running.

I do sometimes run in the Lycra trunks with nothing underneath, but I don't call that freeballing, because, well, the balls aren't free, they are held nice and firmly against my body by the stretchy material. In some ways it's more like running in ONLY underwear.

No SweatyAussie, I did not think you were advocating freeballing, I read your post correctly.
What I was at issue with was the fact that just the thought that someone MAY be freeballing because you couldn't see any underwear would be at all appealing to anyone here!
Unlike hetero men who seem to go ape-shit over the fact that some woman is leaving slime trails all over the chairs where others are expected to sit due to the fact she's not wearing any knickers, I am MOST firmly far more interested to see a guy IS wearing undies.
You can't really see this with a thong, ...at least from the back anyway.
A jockstrap has those two eyecatching tantalising straps that lead your eyes inward and set off thoughts of seeing more. A thong, by it's very much more concealed nature being pulled right up the crevice, doesn't really advertise it's presence at all, unless you get right up close and personal, which of course, most of us don't when just out perving!

OK, I can see your point (even if you can't see my "point" :) )

You've been reading the WA political gossip haven't you? Troy-Boy is such a lad.

You can't really see this with a thong, ...at least from the back anyway.

Granted. But with some short shorts, or those with a really deep split at the sides, it's possible to see the nuts, or rather to see that they are covered by a thong.

Stop it Bondsman, you'll give me a fat talking like that. :hump

I really like the idea of wearing mesh shorts with no liner like gil_vh. N2N has been selling athletic shorts of various lengths and pants with no liners for some time now, and I think they are the only company to do so. One can get away with wearing them* in public without causing an uproar, because what people think is fabric beneath the mesh is actually bare skin. It's a great visual conceit and people (hopefully guys) have to look closer which is even better! ;)

*"Them" referring to the shorts. The mesh pants look harem like and one might get more than a few stares!

I agree, curiosyellow. If I wore a white jockstrap under N2N's mesh shorts, everyone would know that the shorts are see-through and that's too much attention for me! A dark thong keeps the privates private and the viewers guessing. It's also cool to buy a pair of Nike or Adidas mesh shorts and cut the inner liner out of them. No one would expect that a mainstream manufacturer would make a short that was not meant to be worn in public, right?

Last week I was shopping at Target and this guy in front of me was wearing Nike basketball shorts -- white mesh. They had wide stripes down the sides, but I did a double (triple) take when I saw that the zany pattern of his boxers was clearly visible underneath the mesh. Did he remove the inner layer or was there ever one? Maybe he knew that they were see through and that's why he wore boxers instead of briefs? I'm not sure but the sight of them really played with my mind. They'd be a safe bet out on the running trail. I don't think anyone would fault someone for wearing them; afterall they were Nike!

I remove the liners, they are a waste.
Prefer to always wear a jockstrap under my running or swim shorts!
