After my shower I decided to slip into these as a change from the usual thong.

I know the manufacturer calls them "boxers", but in my opinion calling a cow a horse doesn't make it a horse. I'd say they are briefs by any accepted definition of the word. I'm not even sure that "boxer briefs" is correct, they are briefer than any boxer briefs I am acquainted with, but I chose that category as a kind of compromise.

I think I've had this exact same conversation with StraightShowoff, .....and over the very same underwear. I'm still not sure that the way they allow the arse cheeks to fall out is a good feature.
I know a lot of female stuff is cut like that but I prefer the garment to follow the natural line of the body. (i.e, either a thong or a brief, ....not half-way so-to-speak.) Isn't it a bit uncomfortable as it is? Do you sort of feel that they are riding up?
I DO like the front though! Very nice.

I agree with some of your comments - I do think the front looks better than the back.

I'm not a convert to this cut, I think I'll stick to briefs and thongs, but these make an interesting change for a one-off.

Answering your question about "riding up", I find the problem is more that they slip down :moon, because the elastic is not very tight - or, to put it another way, they are not stretched very much when I am wearing them. I find myself constantly reaching down the back of my jeans to yank up the waistband. That's probably to do with the tightness of my jeans though, they are fine under shorts, or under nothing. :)
