I have white see thru basketball shorts from Target. On my day off I usually wear them and go to the park, store, etc.

Don't be discouraged degraded! They probably DO notice, .....but taking into account your fellow Americans seemingly innate and excessive "modesty" when it comes to anything to do with the MALE figure, I'm not sure they are going to react openly.
What were you expecting? Wolf-whistles? Pick-ups? Shouted out verbal compliments?
Even here in Oz we don't do anything much except silently admire the view when we see such things on public display, .....unless of course we are in an exclusively gay environment, and then we might pass appreciative comments.
Many "sightings" may be of str8 boys who probably would not appreciate comments from other males, .....and indeed, it may alert them to the fact they are showing more than they intended, which would prevent any further sightings, wouldn't it?

I've been whistled at more than once when wearing shorts in the street - by both men and women. It's nice when that happens, and partially makes up for the fact that certain sections of society frown on short shorts - as documented elsewhere in my tale about my experience at my gym.

The other thing is - it's L.A., so I guess citizens just come to expect the unusual. :) This is the city of Disneyland and Muscle Beach after all.
