View Full Version : "groovy underwear"
The Bondsman

I have had this song for quite a while now, and thought it more than appropriate to post here. It's by a group called "Pansy Division" , .....if you don't mind!;)
This one is called "GROOVY UNDERWEAR", ... and it get's my vote as the official theme song for this USG site!
I've posted the VERY appropriate, (and explicit!) lyrics to "Groovy Underwear" below.
Pansy Division are a San Franciscan gay group who seem to specialise in gay themed songs.
A quick listing of some of the other tracks on their CD will give you a hint of what to expect.
There are tracks called:
Reciprocate; Fluffy City; Negative Queen; Beercan Boy; Homo-sapien; ...Not Enough of You to go Around; James Bondage etc.etc.
I'm sure you get the none too subtle themes.

Wonderful lyrics!
I can't say I'm that impressed with the tune, though musically it compares favourably with what one normally hears atmost gay venues so I'm sure it would go down well. Sort of like a gay version of The Ramones.

I can't say I'm that impressed with the tune,
OK so it ain't "art", ...just appropriate for here I thought!:D
The group itself didn't exactly take the world by storm so-to-speak.
Still, they DO manage to mention in one short song just about all the forms our collective fetish embraces. That's got to be some sort of achievement?

Incidentally, the last time I heard something described as "groovy" was about 1966. Is this one of those words that's making a comeback, like "cool"?

Cool, ....(kewel??) may indeed be making a comeback, ....for some people it probably never went away!
However I will thank which ever deity I discern responsible for the consignment to oblivion of the so over-used term of address "dude", .....or the constant repetition of the word "man" after every single sentence!:mad:
Call me poof, call me idiot, call me anything but don't call me "dude" or "man"!
Particularly about fifty times in every conversation!
The total extinction of either of those I'd rate as one of the greatest services to the English language, ...not to mention the vocabulary of those so afflicted !

Dudes, groovy is never out of fashion, though it has it's bleak and marvy times (now where the hell has marvy gone?).
But I can't imagine a world without "dudes" or "man" and I shiver to think that others could wish for such a world. Without dude, how could you express emotion, such as:
"Hey, want free tix to the show?"
"Dude! Yes!"
or...
"Look, bro, I'm not gonna lie. I slept with your boyfriend."
"Duuude... really? Dude! Not cool!"
or...
"Dude?"
"Dude."
Man is just conversational spackle. I love it too ;-)
Those under 30, agree.
Those over 30, discuss.
Those over 70, we'll start another thread and talk about radio dramas, victory gardens and early Agnes Moorehead flicks.

Either you are "taking the piss", ...which I sincerely hope, ....or you have just demonstrated that inspite of so-called education, the possession of a functioning vocabulary is in inverse proportion to age. It may come as a complete surprise to some that civilisation seems to have got on for centuries WITHOUT using "dude" as a form of address, ....an American abomination at best which originally meant a poseur, artificial, not the genuine article as in "dude ranch", ...one for dress-up, pretend "cowboys" rather than real ones.
The ending of every sentence with "man" is just a sign of a totally drug-fucked mind and not being able to think of anything else to say. It's verbal wall-paper to fill in the gaps. Why keep repeating it? If the poor unfortunate recipient of your looped conversation is actually a "man", then I'm sure he doesn't need to keep being reminded of the fact. Learn his name FCS, .....call him mate, whatever, but it's not necessary to keep on bloody saying it, .... man!
Those over 70, we'll start another thread and talk about radio dramas, victory gardens and early Agnes Moorehead flicks.
Although I am certainly nowhere even near the age group you suggest, I refuse to hear a single word against Agnes Moorehead. From what I have seen, she was a great character actress, and you may treat her as a figure of fun, but perhaps you should consider that although she was a staunchly religious person, she was extremely supportive of gay men, and spoke up for their "cause" back when things were a lot more difficult, ...(not to mention illegal), than they are now for our blithely unaware twinks.
And that was WAY before it became "oh-so-fashionable" for "celebrities" to be so gay-tolerant too, ....dude!:D
Gen Y did NOT invent everything, ...or indeed anything much at all really, ...apart from the idea of partying on the money they save by living at home, sponging off their oldies for free rent, washing, ironing and food until they are about 40, ...still desperately trying to be a "cool" kid with an X-Box/Nintendo/Wii and a plasma screen crammed into their smelly crusty-sheeted bedroom they have occupied since they were about three.
There are some things that happened PRIOR to the self-obsessed lives of our self-indulgent intolerant generation that it would benefit from them ungluing the ubiquitous Ipod from their tinnitus-riddled ears, getting their ever-fattening arses OFF Facebook or Twitter for even a few minutes and doing just a little extra reading about people who stood up back when it was much harder to do so.
Who knows, that in itself may improve their vocabulary and expand their tiny minds just one step further than endlessly repeating the two words they have to rely on in a pathetic attempt to sound "cool", .....man!:D
The next goggle-eyed zombie that fronts up to me at a party like a long lost friend, eyes glazed over and starts to mumble the dude/man thing will either learn my name very quickly, ...or get a free shot of Narcan!;) ;) :D :D

You go, Bondsman!
Oh dear, ...have I gone one step too far again?
I'm sure I used more than enough emoticons in my rant to alert even the less astute reader to my purpose.
I WAS hoping strongtimes and I shared a similar sense of the ridiculous, ...but with blokes from the good ole US of A, one can never be sure.
Oh well, .....another few years in isolation.:D

Bondsman, what's Narcan? Must be an east coast thing?

SweatyAussie,
Narcan (naloxone) is an anti-opiate, used to counteract the effects of meds like heroin or morphine or Dilaudid, powerful opiate pain meds. In overdose these cause respiratory depression (you stop breathing and can die).:(
I believe Bondsman is making the point that some of these guys need to be withdrawn from their narcotics abuse.
Care to comment further, Bondsman?
