SPAV (Spam Posing as Visitor messages)

Several members have alerted the mods to what appears to be foreign language spam posted as "Visitor Messages" to their home page. The user in question has now been banned; however there is no easy way for us to access and remove all the visitor messages posted by a certain person, so the spam message will stay on your profile page until you either remove it yourself (I'm not sure whether ordinary members are able to do this) or contact us and ask us to remove it for you.

Yes, members can remove it themselves or just ask us and we'll do it for you.

It's frustrating that these spammers get through once in a while, but the good news is that there's hardly any these days compared to a year or so ago. I used to go into the daily new members list to approve them and it was inundated with fake registrations. Luckily I am able to weed out most of the spammer because of the trick registration questions, but it was a pain in the ass as I had to go through each one individually to determine if it was fake or legit. There's rarely a fake one that get all the way through registration. There are still quite a few that register, but never click the link in the registration email so they end up having "dead" accounts with no access.

Hopefully with the new upgrade (still coming soonish) vBulletin have given me better tools to block the spammers.
