Embedding Media From Other Websites

When posting messages in the forums (and most other places) you can embed media from other sites. The software running USG only comes with the ability to post from a few places like YouTube, Twitter and Vimeo.

A few days ago, I added some code to allow embedding videos from XTube, Pornhub and XVideos and today, added a whole bunch of other sites thanks to an addon written by another person - which now allows us to embed photos from Instagram.

To do so, In most cases, you just have to copy the url or click the Embed link on the video at another site and copy the given link. Then when you post on here, just open the post window and click the Media Icon in the main edit window (it's two rectangles, one on top of the other) and past the link into it and then click the Continue button. To ensure it worked, click the Preview button at the top right of the post (or comment) window and you can see if it embedded properly. Be sure to click the Preview button again to continue editing.

It's a bit more wonky than embedding from other sites. You have to find your video on Gayfuror, click the Embed link and then copy the code somewhere so you can copy a bit of it to paste into the media embed box here at USG. The embed code from Gayfuror looks something like this:

<iframe src="https://www.gayfuror.com/embed/226129/" frameborder="1" width="640" height="383" scrolling="no" allowtransparency="true" allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen></iframe><br><a href="https://www.gayfuror.com/video/underwear-clad-black-hunk-masturbating/?utm_campaign=embed&utm_medium=embed-link&utm_source=embed-link" target="_blank" title="Underwear-clad black hunk masturbating">Underwear-clad black hunk masturbating</a> offered by <a href="https://www.gayfuror.com/?utm_campaign=embed&utm_medium=embed-link&utm_source=embed-link" target="_blank">gayfuror.com</a>

You have to find the bit between the quotes after the src= and copy it.

In the above example's case, it's

https://www.gayfuror.com/embed/226129/

On USG, in the post menu, click on the Media icon (two rectangles, one on top of each other) and paste what you copied and click Continue. That should embed the video like this:

I will say, the videos on that site are not generally very good quality but now you can embed them here.

Still struggling to make this happen, I don't think there's anything wrong on the USG end. Gayfuror just offers share options for Facebook (??? which blocks them) and Twitter... searching for their embed codes.

Ryan, I'm not entirely clear. You're having issues embedded Gayfuror videos here? Here's a step by step...

Over at Gayfuror, find the video you want. Click the Embed icon (diagram below, icon highlighted in yellow).


Then you'll get the big embed code (see diagram below, highlighted in yellow):


Here's the sort of tricky part, copy the given embed code in your post but remove everything except the bit between the quotes after src=

So in the sample video, here's the embed code:

<iframe src="https://www.gayfuror.com/embed/28970/" frameborder="1" width="640" height="383" scrolling="no" allowtransparency="true" allowfullscreen webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen></iframe><br><a href="https://www.gayfuror.com/video/straight-guy-showing-off-his-body-and-jerking-off/?utm_campaign=embed&utm_medium=embed-link&utm_source=embed-link" target="_blank" title="Straight guy showing off his body and jerking off">Straight guy showing off his body and jerking off</a> offered by <a href="https://www.gayfuror.com/?utm_campaign=embed&utm_medium=embed-link&utm_source=embed-link" target="_blank">gayfuror.com</a>

So just copy the bit between the quotes just after src=

In the sample video above, that bit you need is

https://www.gayfuror.com/embed/28970/

Although I've been saying previously that you need to click the Media icon in the post window here at USG to embed a video, I've just discovered that you can just paste the copied bit right into the post and the system will figure it out. It won't be obvious that it worked until you click the Preview Button in the post window and you should see your video. Here's the sample video from above:
