50 here and i feel more comfortable with “average” mens thong…maybe i should try smaller but these are comfortable for all day wear

I don't think it it related to age but more to building self consciousness. Feeling more free to do what you feel as comfortable, nice, sexy or whatever. And less afraid of what others think.
I'm mid sixties and just buy and wear what I like. Thongs and strings.
On the beach I prefer a thong. Since I like that tan line

I think there is some correlation with age and thongs. Many older thongers now have seen the evolution of thongs from the 90’s to today. The thongs you find today are much more diverse than it was 30 years ago. Also older guys will have more disposable income to spend on $30+ for a pair.

Agree.. as I'm getting older.. tending to wear the more micro g-string styles and c-strings at the beach these days. Possibly a more confident and less "care factor" as we get older. Lots of gym work to keep the bod in some kinda shape.. and shaving too of course

I've always preferred g-strings to thongs and I'm now into my 70s. Having said that, I was always only an occassional wearer of g-strings since they turned me on so much they became impractical. But now I wear them 90% of the time and just love the feel of the low slung garment, the minimal pouch softly nestling my package and the string sliding between my cheeks.

Now to contradict myself. I have recently tried a couple of thong styles out of interest. Both have the fuller front style of a small bikini brief. One has the tapered thong which stays fairly wide and the other tapers down to a spaghetti string as it passes over my rosebud. The feel of the tapered thong framing my arse cheeks is somewhat of a turn on that pleasantly surprised me but I do prefer, as I always have, the feel of the g-string.

I don't consider it an age thing, but for me it was an acceptance thing. Initially I wore a thong on the beach with an old GF of mine, then the second day of our vacation I wore a G-string matching my GF's G-string which were both white unlined sheer when wet. What I found out was that once the ass was exposed nobody cared how small the front or sides or back strap were "it was all the same" so from that point on I have wore G-strings and smaller in public at most

I made the experience the older you get the skimpier they get. There is no need to have extra cloth in the front or in the back, you need the utmost necessary, not a square inch more. There may be also an exhibitionist side to that matter, I am aware of the fact that guys prefer to see me in a string instead of a thong. What about you?

It varies, sometimes the g string, sometimes the thong, depending on my mood. Some friends only like the thongs with the triangle, others only the very small g strings. I don't think I can choose between the two, so I wear both styles.
