Boys vs. Girls… who is allowed to look sexy…

I’m interested to know how men are portrayed and accepted on TV and in real life being sexy…..

I have been to so many beaches in my life. I always know to dress according to the environment in which I am placed, but I don’t shy away from wearing things that make me feel uncomfortable.

Every year I go on a family vacation with my husband‘s family to the Outer Banks. (they are cool) but I don’t ever wear board shorts with them. I wear small trunks and occasionally a speedo. It's nothing too scandalous, just what I feel comfortable in. But I constantly get dirty looks from guys who feel like it’s inappropriate. (even though I know they want a taste)

I’m curious how people feel about the way men are pressured into wearing ugly long shorts that look terrible and are not sexy. While girls are wearing small skimpy bathing suits and tiny little thongs, and no one bats an eyelash.

Why are women allowed to wear tiny bathing suits, but a full-grown man can’t wear a Speedo to the beach without guys judging (or lusting) them for being comfortable with what they want to wear…

Also... a sexy pic to get your attention

I've worn bikini briefs since I was 16, thongs since 19, but never wore a speedo swimmng. I actually skipped that step and wore a nude Joe Snyder bulge thong to a state park lake last summer. Maybe if I'd already worn bikinis publicly I'd been less nervous but I can not wait long enough to do it again.

It's a double standard for sure, and I've been complaining about it for years! Women can "advertise the goods" as much as they like, but men shouldn't? That's bullshit! We should be as free to express ourselves by what we choose to wear (or not wear) as women, but we really aren't. Not in most places, at most times.

I've worn speedos at the beach, but never a thong. And never with a buttplug or a cockring prominently displayed.

But some of us here do, and I love the pics they post!

You're all trailblazers imho, an inspiration to those of us still hesitating to make that final "I don't give two fucks what anybody thinks" leap !!! (y)(y)(y)

Maybe this'll be the summer I get there. I'd really like that!

I think double standard, which everyone has said, is absolutely the most concise way of putting it.

The same can also be applied to the gym, and while I feel you’d still be judged, I don’t think it would be to the same extent because compression shorts and tights can be scientifically justified.

Deapite living in a slightly conservative country for 5 years, nearly every guy wears speedos to the beach and the pool, and even in the locker room, men do not apply sexuality to being naked around one another, it’s also very common to answer the door in even potentially provocative underwear with no judgement whatsoever.

If someone was to call the police and complain that a man is indecently exposing himself in a thong (not intentionally naughty), I don’t know what the response would be. I don’t think anything is enforceable because you’d also have to apply it to women but it’s defo socially unacceptable; and I simply don’t know why!

I think you’d be highly criticized for wearing a discreetly sexualised harness (or even just a strap from shoulder to armpit) across your chest and a thong a lot more than a woman in a thong and a push up bra/boob tube/revealing bikini.

you have to wear what you like and what makes you feel good, if guys look at you it's because (1) you make them horny and they would like to taste you, or (2) they're jealous.

I have worn Speedo style swimwear since I was about 15 and got my first thong in my mid 20s. I went to my first nude beach in my late 20s. I usually wear the skimpiest swimwear I can get away with depending on where I am. I couldn't believe when dork shorts came along and how impractical they were. I thought it was a fad that wouldn't last very long. I was wrong. I kept wearing minimal swimwear and occasionally got photographed, stared at and even groped sometimes. Several times I've had women tell me they wished their hub would wear something like I had on (one of the women even grabbed my ass and wispered in my ear while I had just a gstring on). I'll admit one time when we were going on vacation I bought a pair of dork shorts as a joke. My wife hadn't seen them and couldn't stop laughing when she saw me come to the beach in them. Finally I took them off to the thong I was wearing underneath. Don't think I have had them on since...

The skimpier the better!
Yep, you're 100% right! I've made the same complaint myself: Why can't men have the same beach/body rights as women?

As someone above posted, Americans see a penis as bad and boobs as good. And over the last few years, women's asses are now accepted to be shown off with a thong. (Not that I'm complaining.) But when a guy's suit is anything less than baggy, suddenly he's a topic of conversation, and often an unpleasant one.

When I was younger and went to the beach with female friends, they were generally pleasantly surprised. The girls I dated thought it was hot -- they'd seen me in my bikini-brief uw -- and the platonic friends were supportive. One pretty blonde I went to South Beach (she wore a sizzling bikini on her sexy little bod) said, "Well, you're comfortable with your body!" A different female friend sorta looked then tried not to. Later, when were were back in regular clothes, she made a comment about "knowing more about you now than I used to!" I love references to my bulge size which -- to be clear -- is totally average and even small when soft.

Most of you guys on here are from US so I do feel for you and the "hostility" .. Looking for words to describe about men who "buck the system" and refuse to wear "dork shorts" Growing up in Australia in the 70/80s .. we all wore speedos. A great time. 😛 Nowadays.. the younger guys are towing the line so to speak .. mostly, but luckily in Aus us older guys can still enjoy wearing our speedos at the beach and pool. Kind of a "boomer" thing ...the younger ones condescending . That said.. I think if you're going to wear yr speedos in public.. need to hit the gym and stay in some kind of shape ... and shave.. or at least manscape. I'm totally smooth waist down and have generally found comments positive.. especially from older ladies.
