As most of you know, I run YourJockstraps.com - essentially this site but more strictly about jockstraps.
Before I get into this, I've always had issue with the main Gallery page. It shows not only all the "Underwear / Swimwear Styles" Gallery photos but it also shows all the photos from members personal albums (as long as their privacy setting aren't set to private).
I've always considered the Gallery to be more about the photos strictly adhering to the theme of this website whereas Personal Albums are there to enhance a member's profile. I find it more on Your Jockstraps, but profiles are used to find out more about a member, see what they're into, read their profile "wall" which is more like a member's diary. And Personal Albums can tell us more about what a member is into. While I have never minded a few photos being posted of guys naked or veering off the theme of USG slightly, I have never liked that Personal Album photos show up in the main Gallery.
So....
What I did about six months ago on Your Jockstraps is broke the Gallery away from the Personal Albums. Each has it's own link from the main menu. Personal Albums are then displayed with a thumbnail montage of what's in the album and it makes more sense when you click on the album and see only what's in that member's album they posted.
It was an experiment but it has worked over on Your Jockstraps. It helps prevent photo flooding in the main Gallery, it separates the Personal Album Photos from the main Gallery and gives them more prominence and makes it all more logical.
So, when I get some time in the next few weeks, I'm going to try separating the Gallery and Personal Albums here as well. If there are too many complaints I can always reverse it but when I did it over at Your Jockstraps, no one complained.
I'll let you know when it happens (even though it will be pretty obvious).
