Erroneous notifications

Almost every day I receive one or more notifications to the effect that "<member name> has responded to the thread "Photo Challenges and Suggestions". It's a different member each time, but always this particular thread - probably because it's a thread I have participated in. However when I call up the thread I see no post newer than Dec 20, 2020.

Any idea what's going on here? It's becoming annoying.

Haven't a clue until you tell me what post you're being notified of or the notification message you're receiving.

The notifications are working for me (and I'm getting tons of them as I commenting on so many posts and photos right now). I'm sure there's some logical explanation!

OK. Here are a couple of screenshots.

The first shows what I see when I view my current alerts.




As you can see, the fifth one down is about fuckinundies replying to the Photo Challenges Suggestions thread.

If I click on that link, it actually takes me to a part of the Photo Challenges Suggestions thread page that is blank. If I scroll up to the last message, the second attachment shows what I see.

The last message is dated Dec 26. (It also contains what appears to be an image link, but clicking on the lnk does not bring up an image for me. Maybe this is related to the problem?)

Update on this: I believe the problem is definitely related to images inserted in post. I found another thread where there is a post with one of these inserted image links. I do not see anything past that grey box that claims to be an image link. I do not see the end f ht epost, with Report, Edit, History, Reply etc. Just white.

The slider bar at the right indicates that it thinks there is a LOT between this point and the end of the page. If I scroll down using Page Down, and do this repeatedly, after a very long time I start to see what looks like new page headings (Home, Forums, What's New etc) but nothing else.It's almost as though the software is interpreting the image data as text, but text that is displayed as blank space. Effectively, any content in the thread after that image link is invisible to me.

This does not happen with every image. Some inserted images show up just as they should. I cannot say whether this is a problem with the site or with my system - if the latter, I have no idea how to fix it.

Very strange. I'm getting notifications on that Photo Challenge Suggestion Thread and it's all working fine. When I click the notification it lands at the bottom at my post (which is the last).

The post where the image is missing for you is there for me.

Can't remember what operating system/browser you're using but perhaps that's where the issue it. I mostly use my PC desktop and mainly use Chrome but I use Edge and Firefox for testing. I always view the site on an iPad and iPhone and it's also working on those devices.

I run Fedora Linux. Admittedly the version is getting out of date, but until now I have never had any problem viewing imagesor links to images.

I guess I'll just have to live with the problem until such time as I get around to updating my version, which hopefully will fix the issue.

i'll see If I can find anyone else having issues on the Xenforo forums. There may be a fix from that end of things.

Thanks. It's just that this is the only site where I have encountered this problem. No such problem on the music site I belong to, which is also Xenforo.

My first thought is they're using a different version than this one. Or have some feature or ability turned off or set differently. When you buy the software, you get a year of upgrades, after that, you have to pay for any upgrade.

There is one minor upgrade to Xenforo available and also and upgrade to the Media Gallery (an addon) that I was planning to install this weekend. It's a long shot, but perhaps that may fix it.
