When I was growing up, this stuff was called "pornography". It wasn't online of course, it was in printed books and magazines. It was only from about the 1990s or so that the word "pornography" started to get used for online erotica, so that nowadays it's generally assumed to refer to video rather than the printed word.

To this day I get more of an erection out of reading a well-written story than by watching videos. But then I am more of a book person than a film person when it comes to most kinds of fiction.
