Hey all, I've been trying to join ThongBoard but every time I try to register a new account it returns an error (seems I'm not the only one on here). I did get there from Google and the site itself loads up just fine.

Anyone know if the Board is even still active? If so, can an existing member maybe alert their admins of the registration problem?

From earlier posts, it seems that site has been broken since January. I could not sign up today either. Since the software is from 2000, it probably does not work properly with IPV6 or anything up-to-date. I was lucky to close my old account long ago.

Is there any subscription to use the site or something? I tried different browsers, clearing browser cookies etc, nothing seems to be working. Not sure if I'm doing something wrong.

I doubt it's you. Was it confirmed that your account was created? I get the same message but always assumed it was because I didn't have an account. Whenever I try to create one, I get a different error message. Try to log in anyway, get told my account doesn't exist

It's still working and active for me. Posts from today are showing up. It's certainly very outdated in terms of technology though.

Yes. It was confirmed. I'm able to log in without any problems. I'm just not able to view the topics. The only topics I can view are from "FORUM NOTICES - PLEASE READ".

It says I'm logged in. I didn't have any problems with creating an account, or log into the site



But when I'm trying to view any other topic/subforum than the "FORUM NOTICES", I get an error:



I know it says to clear cookies, or try signing out and in again, but having the same problem for nearly 6 months, means there is something wrong with it. It looks like I don't have a rank to view any other topics. I have contacted their admin on PM, but haven't received any response.

I even made small donation to see if that would help, but still nothing.

2. Visit thongboard.aimoo.com
3. Log in to your account
4. At the top right there is "Join", that has to be pressed to be able to use the thongboard.

I though creating an account is enough, but have to actually join that specific board.

PS Not sure what the above posts have to do with thongboard topic, but I guess some people just can't find the proper topics to post their pictures.

When I read this, I went back to Aimoo and had all kinds of stupid problems. The Captcha did not work. When I tried to register at Aimoo it said my e-mail address was already registered (I closed the account years ago), and said it would send a password to my e-mail, which also never came. The error messages were in pidgin English. Clearing the 16,000 tracking cookies on my PC did not matter. I went to their Support page, Aimoo Help Forum, but I could not enter anything there.
This reminded me of the 1980's when I worked for a mainframe company. A big printer arrived, with a note saying "to install this printer, print out these instructions" If I could print the instructions, I would not need them. I had to go to another customer site to print the instructions. Aimoo seems to be equally stupid.

I guess it's because in 2003, when they created the board, everything wasn't so easy and cheap to get, so there were services like aimoo to provide SaaS boards/forums. They were cheap to host on VPS servers, and all the data belongs to them, not to the founder of the board, so they could put ads and other stuff whenever they wanted.

Now, when everything is so easy and cheap, thongboard is stuck with aimoo, because they just can't move the whole database of members and topics/posts, because that belongs to aimoo, not to thongboard, so they're stuck with them until aimoo fully dies as a service. The only option for them is to create a brand new board, on their server and domain, and inform all their members manually about moving to a new empty board, and that would obviously mean loosing nearly 20 years of history.

That's my thoughts about sticking with the old aimoo provider.
