Most of our friends have their own pool so pool parties are not something we do. Once had a recent business acquaintance over for drinks - he was definatly not out - kept his plaid boxers on.

A number of times when I've been at someone's house with a pool on a hot night but without a swim suit with me, I've gone ahead and swam in my boxers if only men were present and no one was outright skinnydipping. But I knew that I was as good as naked. The fabric of the boxers is thinner even than jockey type shorts and your penis is clearly visible. Also I buy my shorts a couple of sizes too large because they are more comfortable and there is no problem keeping them up if an undershirt is tucked into them. But wearing just boxers in the pool, they slide down around your knees every time you swim a stroke or dive. In that situation of an impromptu swim when just men are present or when the women are inside out of view, I much prefer it when everyone just skinnydips. Afterall, that was the norm in YMCAs when I was growing up.

I joined the local Y in the late 1970s for the.men's open swim (laps). I learned the policy had changed a few months before I joined: from trunks optional to trunks required.
I became acquainted with the regulars who did not like the policy. There was a retired army officer, 2 retired cops, a minister ( a BIG guy - 6'5" ) and a couple of business guys. The army guy, minister and I wore speedos.
Because of his size (or intemtionally) the minister always had blond pubics showing over the waistband. Both cops wore running shorts - with the liner cut out.
The "old days" with open shower room and nude guys in the open lockerroom.

Over time I've tried various boxers - trim cut, nylon tricot and silk. The last two gave me an erection before I got my pants on and an ejaculation shortly after. The reason I don't wear boxers.

In my youth but after starting wearing boxers, hiding impromptu erections was a challenge, more so than when wearing briefs. Sometimes if my trousers were loose enough I would excuse myself and point up my boner and lower the elastic waist band over it to hold it up in place flat against my abdomen instead of sticking conspicuously down the leg of my pants. I'm sure it was the looseness of the boxers that sometimes gave me erections, but unfortunately I never had a hands free ejaculation from wearing them.
