Yeah, it's going to vary depending on what device you're using and your browser preferences, but 16:9 seems to be the "default" aspect ratio these days. On my laptops, that typically yields 4 or 5 images across a row on a page of 12 to 13 rows. Two rows of a single poster's pics doesn't seem horribly excessive to me, not like the ones that take up six or more rows!
A limit of 8-10 image posts would also allow a user to post two or more sets - each consisting of up to a very reasonable 4-5 images, to more than one gallery per day.
I think the point we might like to make is not to discourage posting, but to discourage the abuse.
