Yeah, it's going to vary depending on what device you're using and your browser preferences, but 16:9 seems to be the "default" aspect ratio these days. On my laptops, that typically yields 4 or 5 images across a row on a page of 12 to 13 rows. Two rows of a single poster's pics doesn't seem horribly excessive to me, not like the ones that take up six or more rows!

A limit of 8-10 image posts would also allow a user to post two or more sets - each consisting of up to a very reasonable 4-5 images, to more than one gallery per day.

I think the point we might like to make is not to discourage posting, but to discourage the abuse.

I was thinking the same. Limit it to five per day. If there's too many complaints or feedback (good or bad) we can revisit and reset the limit.

As mentioned, I'll be implementing this next week so any more feedback between now and then is appreciated...

I think 5 is more than enough. If someone decides he wants to post a briefs picture from all the angles then:
1st - Upper view
2nd - Bottom view
3rd - Left view
4th - Right view
5th - extra random view.

More than enough. 365 days in a year gives you 1825 pictures. Even if at the start it would be hard for people, because they want to show all their briefs, then even if you post 10 pictures within 2 days of one briefs, that still gives you 182 briefs per year.

It's not 1990 anymore when people kept all their pictures in album, because it was expensive. We now have the ability to take thousands of pictures and choose the best ones to show to others.

Now the question is... how many photos at a time is too many photos at a time? Should those limits reset after a day? a few days? a week?

Normally I would limit it to a day - maybe 8-10 a day , so you can post to different themes within 24 hours, if you like. If possible, it would make sense to take personal albums out of this limit, but it´s not really important. I post mostly between 2-4 pictures to one theme - this should be enough.
By the way: I like the thread you opened about artfull cock-pictures, I think, it is not really known to those, who like the complete exploring of this "object" Sorry, my English is not perfect, hope, you understand, what I mean. Greetings, Juergen from Austria

It's going to frustrate a whole bunch a people here that may want to post "just that little bit more".

Let's try to remember it's these free voluntary posts by our USG buddies that provide most (all?) of the content that makes this site interesting. Let's be careful not to bite the hand that feeds us, please!

Thanks for the input. That's what this thread is for, to collect opinions and make my final decision based on the feedback.

Right now, I'm leaning toward a limit of 10 per day. Sure, there are lots of members who can post 10 or more photos that like you mention, tell a story or are 10 photos of entirely different things but there are some members who don't get it.

It's all about finding the balance.

If 10 isn't enough, simply come back the next day and post the rest. It's gives the Gallery more of a balance with more variety.

What ever that limit ends up being, it won't be set in stone. If members are frustrated, we can revisit it and change the limit to something else.

It's ok to post some dick pick and naked photos but they HAVE to be in your Personal Albums and should be kept to a minimum.

Let's keep this website on theme, after all, it's underwear and swimwear that brought us all here in the first place, isn't it?

I mostly view this site on a desktop computer as I'm at my desk running Jockstrap Central all day long (and often all night long as I'm a work-a-hollic). I will check in on my iPhone X occasionally in the evening just to check on things.

Here's the difference between 5 almost identical photos in a row versus 10 on both desktop and mobile for me:
* this is in no way a comment on the example photos, just the first ones that I encountered to show the difference.

I agree that more than 10 is somewhat over kill. I love looking at all the different underwear but not same pic a number of times. I like dick shots but not so much here. I am on this site to satisfy my fetish for underwear. I am semi-retired and like to just be in socks and underwear when I do not have to go out my front door. I would love to send some pics. Need to read the instructions
on how to do that. I have seen many good pics on this site. Would love to maybe even chat with someone about underwear fetish.

I’m glad to see this happening. Polite requests weren’t making a difference, or folks were feeling called out and deleting all their pics (which wasn’t making a difference either, once they’re up they’re up… it’s the new daily uploads that were crowding people out).

I like the 10 limit. I usually only post a few at a time, but have the luck of posting them right before someone else uploads 36 blurry pictures of cumming in slow motion. 10 gives people room to play.

Quite possibly. However I think ten should certainly be enough. Just because some people will be unhappy about a limit, does not mean we should increase or abolish the limit, not if having the limit makes the site a better experience for most of the other members. There will always be people who regard the limit as a minimum, just as some people think it's compulsory to drive right on the speed limit.

I've realized that it's hard to see all of what a "followed" person posts because they've continued to post throughout a day or posted many multiples so frequently that it is no longer enjoyable to try to stay up-to-date on an individual's posts...I also don't like having to scroll through many multiple photos from one person just to review the gallery between site visits...
With that said, I have been feeling like I enjoy the YourJockstrap site because it is more defined, "on brand", and the community culture is easier to navigate for my particular interests. It's sexy n raunchy at times, but generally people stay on theme (jocks n gear appreciation)over there...way less gratuitous vulgarity that's totally unrelated to the jockstrap appreciation community.

Just a non-update on this...

I tried to purchase the addon this morning but am having to jump through hoops to get the damn thing. First you've got to log into your Xenforo support account to be able to click through to the addon creators website where you can't do anything until you register with them, then they ask you for the Xenforo license so you have to go to the Xenforo main page and log in there (which is not the same as the login for the Xenforo support forum) to get my Xenforo license token. Then, you complete the registration, wait for the registration email to click a link to prove that it's you and then finally.... I'm not waiting for them to manually approve my registration.

And now I'm waiting...

So...

I bought and installed this addon and I thought it was working. I set the limit to 10 photos within a 24 hour period.

I opened the site with a test account and tried it out and it's not working. Although the 10 photo limit shows right next to the Add Media button when you go into a Gallery Category, it doesn't work - in a few ways:

I uploaded 7 photos into the Jockstrap Category and went back to the category and sure enough, it now says I can post 3 more photos.
I then went to the Briefs category and the message says I can upload 10 photos. So it seems the upload limit is for each category.

Even worse, I went back to the Jockstrap Category and uploaded four more photos (for a total of 11) and it not only allowed me but the upload message next to the Add Media button now says I can upload unlimited media.

I've scoured the settings and permissions of the addon and can't find anything I'm missing.

I'm leaving it running for now as I have to get back to my "real" work. I'll try contacting the guys who made the addon tomorrow and hopefully they can shed some light. They're Turkish but hopefully they're fluent in English.

Ugh.

Having the upload limit for each category is not too bad. It should stop the problem of people posting multiple shots of the same thing with little variation and swamping the board.
If the limit is for each category, then I think it should be lower than 10. 5 seems a better limit. The only exception might be the section for Stripping Shots, where you might want to post a sequence.

It won't stop someone from uploading a ton of photos all at once if they are determined to circumvent the limit by putting them in different categories, but somehow I don't imagine that happening, it seems like too much work for the poster.

I just got a refund payment for the addon with an email from the developer:

Thank you for your interest in our products.
We cannot accept your payment at the moment because an add-on update is required. I have not removed your license from your account.

Your payment is back forwarded to you now. I will inform the when the new release is ready. (It will be ready next week.)

Pain in the ass but the good news is that at least it's not something I did to cause the addon not to function properly and I won't be wasting my time today trying to fix it.

If I might make a suggestion, 5 is a pretty low number. If it’s simply a matter of limiting repetitive postings, I can support a daily limit, but I’d suggest 8-10 pics – something the equivalent of 2 rows of pics on the average 16:9 ratio screen. That won’t mean much to people using mobile devices, but it’ll prevent posters from taking over a whole page on any given day and still allow one a little room to make different postings in multiple galleries on the same day.

I agree with some of the folks here that 5 per day is good, keeps things "fresh".
